I Think I've Adopted The Jamaican Culture

Here I am, this is me, there's no where else on earth I'd rather be. -aust you better know what this is from. But like for real, Zapata is growing for the better! I am so grateful for God allowing me to be a part of it!! Here are a couple of key points from this week. Clerk work is probably the most tedious thing I've done. Shoutout to the clerks out there! Y'all are real ones. Youth night activities are electric. The Book of Mormon is still the truest book on the earth. Don't update PMG and ride your bike, old Hispanic men will make fun of you. I haven't met a single person who didn't smile back when I gave them a Jesus card. These are just a few of the important lessons I have learned this past week. It was an awesome week! We found so many new cool people to teach!! We even had some come to church with us this week!! Super epic story about our friend Patty. We met her in a parking lot outside a karate studio with her daughter and friends. We talked and in...

This Work Is God's Work

Yo, what's up my homies, amigos, and carnales? How's life treating you? Are you enjoying the blessings and experiences that God is providing? I hope so! I definitely am! So, this week was a good one. No bike crashes, said goodbye to a companion who's moving on in the real world. May he rest in peace. Got a new companion in the branch. Let's get started! Alright, so this week kicked off really well. Tuesday was a grind as we awaited transfer calls. But we connected with some cool people, especially our friend Oscar. He's awesome, an older gentleman, keen on finding ways to be with his family forever. We discussed that topic, and he's making great progress. Tuesday night was wild. We knew Wahlquist was heading home due to his time being up. So, who would I get as my new companion? I ended up with Elder Rodabough, a real beast. I didn't know much about him at that point, so we were just hanging out. Wednesday was exciting – we worked, said farewells, had a yout...

Yo What Hector Doing

Hey, what's up? How's it going, everybody? How was the week? Did you have fun? Did you enjoy every minute of it? I hope you all had a great week! My week was pretty chill, as usual. Let's get started, shall we? This week started off with a bang; we had Zone Conference on Tuesday, and that was so lit! We received so much revelation and immediately saw the blessings of that. One thing I love about the mission and the church is that we have inspired leaders who can tell us how to improve based on our needs in that moment. Isn't that cool? Wednesday and Thursday were hype grind days. With temperatures chilling at around 112 degrees, you already know there were people just waiting to talk to us outside. Yeah, that was a joke; not a lot of people were outside this week, which was sad but alright because we just knocked on their doors. Friday was super lit. We had a lot of good lessons and also saw a lot of members. We have a friend named Martha who was baptized a little while...

God Is Good, So Are Tacos

Hey, what's up, my friends? How's everything going this week? How was the 4th of July? I don't know about you all, but I am proud to be an American. I am grateful for this amazing land that God has blessed. We have so many blessings that we take for granted. Remember to pray and give thanks for all the blessings that you enjoy daily. My 4th of July was pretty awesome. We had a normal work day and then just hung out at the apartment and saw some fireworks from the city. I don't know who was running them because they started like 3 huge fires. But nevertheless, it was so exciting! This week was a good one but a grind for sure. We started the week off nicely with the 4th, and everyone was super happy and excited to see us. I can't count how many fajitas and tacos covered in Pico de Gallo I had this week. Let's just say I am way too down to eat spicy food and talk about Jesus Christ in Spanish. This work is true, no doubt in my mind. We found a lot of new people to ...

Hola como están todos ustedes?? Hoy es un día muy importante!! Because it's the start of a new week. SOOO HYPE! Last week was awesome; we found a lot of new people to teach! The bikes are working, and I am finding so much joy in the work!! The people of Zapata are absolute goats. For real, some of the coolest people I know! We helped the branch grow a lot this week; we also are doing the work in the vineyard! God is guiding all of us each and every day! Make sure to look for his hand in your life! Tuesday was pretty chill. We rode our bikes around and tried to talk to everyone! Unfortunately, Elder Wahlquist and I forgot to put sunscreen on in the morning... it was only 2 hours!!! Nevertheless, I got fried that morning. It was rough, but we threw some aloe vera on there, and we're chillin'!! #Gingerinsouthtexas Wednesday was HYPE. We got in contact with an inactive member family!! Actually, a couple of them, haha, but we saw our dude Frankie. He's so lit, 18, and works ...
