Pachanga Pross

Hola como están todos ustedes?? Hoy es un día muy importante!! Because it's the start of a new week. SOOO HYPE! Last week was awesome; we found a lot of new people to teach! The bikes are working, and I am finding so much joy in the work!! The people of Zapata are absolute goats. For real, some of the coolest people I know! We helped the branch grow a lot this week; we also are doing the work in the vineyard! God is guiding all of us each and every day! Make sure to look for his hand in your life!

Tuesday was pretty chill. We rode our bikes around and tried to talk to everyone! Unfortunately, Elder Wahlquist and I forgot to put sunscreen on in the morning... it was only 2 hours!!! Nevertheless, I got fried that morning. It was rough, but we threw some aloe vera on there, and we're chillin'!! #Gingerinsouthtexas

Wednesday was HYPE. We got in contact with an inactive member family!! Actually, a couple of them, haha, but we saw our dude Frankie. He's so lit, 18, and works at McDonald's. He loves Anime, and needless to say, he has given me a long list of things to watch! He loves hanging out with us, and we are trying to help him come back to church! He loves the gospel and can remember memories as a kid when he would go to church. The other family was the Osorto family; still trying to help them... they are a little bit more difficult, but it'll happen.

Thursday was Supa chill. We spoke a ton of Spanish this day! More than usual, and it was so good! I love Spanish, and I can testify that the gift of tongues is so real! There's no way it couldn't be. Like me, a dude from American Fork, could not speak Spanish without God's help!! He wants to help all of us; you just gotta ask.

Friday and Saturday kinda squished together. We didn't find a whole lot of people, and it was a little bit discouraging, not going to lie. But we kept working as hard as we could. We had an amazing lesson with our friend Margarita! She is 84 and super sweet; she opened up a lot, and she definitely needs the gospel! I can't wait to see how she progresses!

Late Saturday night, we had a pachonga with our homie Jorge! His story is so epic! Last Sunday, Elder Harman and I had our exchange, and we found Jorge just walking around. We talked to him a little bit and actually extended a Baptismal Date!!! He accepted and said he wanted to make us Carne and Pollo and a lot of other stuff!! I wasn't sure if it would actually happen!! Then Saturday night, we got a call, and he said it's on. So we zooooomed over there and ate so much food; it was hype!! We were all talking in Spanish, enjoying food, and then we shared a spiritual thought with them. This work is God's work; how could it not be?

My spiritual thought comes from the book of Ether, in the Book of Mormon. It's Ether 12:6-8:

"And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.

7 For it was by faith that Christ showed himself unto our fathers, after he had risen from the dead; and he showed not himself unto them until after they had faith in him; wherefore, it must needs be that some had faith in him, for he showed himself not unto the world.

8 But because of the faith of men, he has shown himself unto the world and glorified the name of the Father and prepared a way that thereby others might be partakers of the heavenly gift, that they might hope for those things which they have not seen."

It's all by faith. With faith in Jesus Christ, all things are possible!! I testify of that, and I have seen the power of faith in my own life!! I love you all, and I hope you are doing well!
