Do A Good Turn Daily
Yooo, what's up everybody? I hope you all have been good! Sorry I missed last week. Sometimes it be like that. Miracles upon miracles have been happening here in McAllen!
Last week on Wednesday we had summer conference with the whole mission. It was super fun and great to be with everybody! I had the opportunity to sing for a musical number. It was super cool! President Larreal changed our yearly mission goal from 850 to 1000. It's so cool to see the Lord hastening His work.
The next day, on Thursday, we had interviews with President. It's always good to be able to spend time talking to him. He truly is an inspiring man! He's also super funny. He really enjoys Coke and sugar. His wife has been getting on him for drinking so much Coke, so we had to sneak it to him.
On Friday we had a super good MLC to start the month! President taught us a lot of different things we can do to help the missionaries succeed in this work. It was cool and we were able to make some plans and get ready to go apply it!
I had the opportunity to go on an exchange with the GOAT Elder Sweeney this past week. He is on his last transfer and I am on my second to last transfer. Needless to say, we got stuff done. It was super hot but we had a lot of fun! Their apartment has a couch. I've decided it's the best apartment on the mission. Sometimes you just miss the modern comforts of normal life.
We were walking down a street, and a super fast truck zoomed past us. I waved to the driver and they did a little double take and screeched to a stop right in front of us. I thought we were gonna die for sure. Two guys got out of the car and proceeded to yell in Spanish and walk towards us. Turns out they were on the way to a party and they needed our help to tie their ties. I love people down here. It was my good turn for the day.
This most recent week was awesome! We had a fire zone meeting and saw some miracles from it! We pulled up to a lot of part-member families' homes and a lot of them have a lot of desire and drive to come back to church, as well as get their unbaptized family members baptized.
We had some lit homies pull up to church. It was good to see them all pull through and feel the spirit at church! Funny experience: our friend Cristina (whom we met the day before) came to church and said she liked it! After church, she sent us a text and it said, "Hey, I didn't know you guys were the Mormons." During class, they talked about Come Follow Me and read a lot from the Book of Mormon. Needless to say, she had some questions that needed to be answered, but we did and are waiting to see what happens next.
I wanted to share a little quote with you all really fast. This comes from a conference talk my mom shared with me a while back:
"Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering, and sorrow is part of our on-the-job training. These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are precisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion for others.
Because Jesus Christ suffered greatly, He understands our suffering. He understands our grief. We experience hard things so that we too may have increased compassion and understanding for others."
The experiences we have make us into who we are today! We experienced them for a reason; we've gotta be able to help others make it through their tough times as well. Living and helping as the Savior did is how we do that!
I love you all!
