Doctrine And Covenants 123:17
I truly believe that the Elders Quorum here does not need to ever do a musical number again. We absolutely killed it. It was a choir of angels, let me tell you. Me and my dawg Hermano Perales killed it. He has a great singing voice which helped cover my voice.
This week was one for the books. God's hand was with us, and I am beyond grateful for His guidance and support. I loved celebrating Christmas again as a missionary. It was awesome to play some basketball and eat Burger King—no joke, that was the only place that was close and open!! During the week, we saw a lot of miracles and found some cool people. It makes me really excited for our return appointments which are coming this week!! The Lord is preparing this land, and I am happy to be a part of it. I love this work so much.
I saw a lot of blessings and miracles this week from following the promptings of the spirit. There were times when we would be absolutely stumped on why we were in a certain area. We would pray and go where we thought, and God would put us into the path of someone who needed to see and hear us. I believe the same thing is applicable to daily life. If you are confused, pray and ask for His support! But then you have to act and move so God can help!! He wants what's best for us, and I love Him for that!!
The title of my email is something special this week. This is what that verse says:
"Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for His arm to be revealed."
We talked to a lot of people this week; we truly did everything that was in our power. But, no one came to church, so a lot of our efforts felt wasted. But I know that as we do all we need to, God will do the rest. His will is always going to happen, and our job is to do our best and trust in Him. FAITH IS THE KEY TO HAPPINESS
We had a cool experience with the Book of Mormon this week that I want to share. We were visiting our friend Gabriel. Gabriel is this big middle-aged Hispanic man who is always smiling and happy. He is super poor but doesn't really care. We pulled up to his house right as he was getting home from the store. We helped him take everything in and then sat down to talk for a little about his day and such. He started off really happy and excited about the new year and everything. Then he started to cry, not super big and loud sobbing, but just quiet tears. He started to tell us everything that was going on in his life. He then turns to us for comfort or answers or simply just support. As a 19-year-old dude from Utah, raised in a good family in the church, I didn't know where he was coming from!! But the SPIRIT did, and with its help, I was able to find verses from the Book of Mormon that comforted and helped him feel better. After bearing testimony of the Book of Mormon and promising blessings, Gabriel has decided to read a chapter a day! It was amazing to see the power of that book! As well, I finished the Book of Mormon this week. I know it's true. Nothing can change that.
