A WHOLE CHICKEN
"Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and He will direct thee for good. Yea, when thou liest down at night, lie down unto the Lord, that He may watch over you in your sleep. And when thou risest in the morning, let thy heart be full of thanks unto God. And if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day." - Alma 37:37
Well, everyone, this week, ngl, was a different one. Biked a lot, spoke Spanish, and ate more food than I thought possible. But for real, this week was super good. We saw a lot of miracles, and I am even more sure of the hand of the Lord in this work.
Abel came to church again.
Blanca wants to be baptized, and she came to church with us.
Taught a ton of lessons about Jesus Christ's Atonement.
Ate a whole chicken... got 'em.
Our friends are progressing really well, and I'm excited to see what happens with them. Abel has a baptismal date for this coming weekend. I am so excited for him. As we have been able to teach him, I feel like we have become good friends. He is just a fun guy to be around. His granddaughters also decided that we are the coolest around.
Blanca is so hype. Her story is super crazy. She has been through a lot of not awesome experiences, decided that she has had enough of it, and somehow found the number of the sisters in our ward. They referred her to us, and we went by. Over and over as we were talking, she would say that she wants to change, she wants to be closer to God. I was moved by her willingness to stop anything she is doing and follow Jesus Christ. We have to teach her quite a bit, so we are gonna grind that out.
Our meal calendar is so hype, let me tell ya. Coming from Zapata where I had to cook for myself, which was fun, don't get me wrong, this is like a huge upgrade. One day, the member we were supposed to have dinner with texted and said she was going to drop something off. So, lit, we bumped back to our apartment, and then we were just waiting for this member to show up. The time comes, I was starving. We open the door, this dude is carrying a rotisserie chicken, two loaves of bread, and a bag of salad. I don't know why I thought it was so funny. Elder Stewart ate a little bit and said he was full. Your boy then proceeded to eat the rest of the chicken.
Shoutout to the best brother out there! Happy Birthday, Aust. You're the GOAT, and I'll always look up to and admire you!
My spiritual thought today comes from a talk my mom sent me. Love you, Mom! It is titled "Come what may, and love it" by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin in October 2008. I wanted to share a quote from it:
"The next time you’re tempted to groan, you might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable."
I testify of this. Sometimes I find myself getting frustrated in my circumstances or with people we meet. But once I realize how amazing life is, when I step back and smile, laugh, or just appreciate where I am at, my life changes for the better. God is good, He loves you, and wants you to succeed.
God be with you till we meet again, top 10 best hymns sung by the Tabernacle Choir. Brings tears.
Elder Lefler.
