Sonrisas Son Super Buenas
Another week completed, finished, and absolutely dominated in the work of the Lord. This email is going to be great; I have to cover 2 weeks, so we are going to hit a lot of points!
Zone conference and Interviews! Wow, I always knew my mission president was a beast. But after this one, there is not a doubt in my mind that he is called of God. During zone conference, I was feeling a couple of feelings of inadequacy, so I was down on myself and overall just goofing off. IN THAT MOMENT Presidente Larreal gets up, takes the mic, and says, "God is in the details of your life. Enjoy your time here; you are enough"... hit me like a bullet, not gonna lie. God is good, and He works through those who are keen enough to hear His voice!
I love the people in our ward. They are some of the nicest and friendliest people I have met! We have the chance to eat with some of them for dinner. There is a special kind of spirit at these dinner appointments, one that I can't describe. God blesses them for taking care of us, and they bless us with their testimonies and support. I never knew member meals would affect me so much!
We went golfing for the last P-day; let's just say I'm ready to be a businessman.
We had exchanges this week; I went with my guy, Elder Harman. I love this guy, and I am grateful for the exchange we had! It was definitely needed. We talked to a lot of people and actually had the chance to meet with our boy Eddy. Eddy was super cool, and we met him looking for his girlfriend (which was a total shot in the dark; we've had no contact with her for weeks), so we stopped by and started talking to him. We shared the 3 Nephi 18 video that the church has made! He loved it, and when we asked what part stood out to him, he said the part about baptism. Amen, brother!! He told us a quick story about how he wanted to be baptized and become closer to his Savior! He also told us he planned on being baptized when he turned 21... his birthday was that day... he turned 21 on the same day we came by... God is good... baptism for Eddy!
Also ate at this little Mexican restaurant called Taco Chino, super tasty.
I AM BEYOND HYPED FOR GENERAL CONFERENCE!! It will be amazing; I've been needing a little divine guidance and revelation.
NEVER DOUBT your feelings or impressions. The week before this week, we were in this area, which we had been in a million times. I was asking myself why are we here again; no one wants to talk to us, haha!! We walked some more and bumped into Salvador. He was chill, we testified BOLDLY of Christ, His church, and the opportunity to come and follow Him. He said, "Alright, bet" and would be at church. Sunday rolled around... no Salvador at church... rip... so we went by to see what happened and stuff like that. We stopped by and talked to his wife, April. She started the conversation by saying, "What did you do to my husband?"... that's not a good way to start a first contact! She then went on to say, "I have never seen him like this before. He wants to go to church; he wants to be baptized. You guys changed him!! Please come back and talk to us more." I was so happy; I was smiling so big. She said she needed our light in her family's lives! What?! It was hype. Turned out he got called into work so he didn't come to church... but vamos a ver.
I ate lengua for dinner one night this week! It was super good, and the couple we ate with made some great salsa. I love spicy food so much; this culture is practically perfect in the food aspect.
This past week I was asked to play the piano at a baptism of some friends named Vanessa and Elu. I started playing the Interlude and turned out they were not ready to start... so I played the Interlude for 45 minutes, which in reality was a tender mercy; God helped me feel the Spirit so strong and helped me be ready for that service! Never doubt the power of music.
A kid told me I have big muscles, best kid on the planet.
Spiritual thought:
How to make ourselves the best disciples of Jesus Christ. I've got a scripture to share; shoutout to my cousin Liv; it is Ether 12:27! This is a super well-known scripture, and I've shared it before, but it feels right to do it again, so here we are!
"And if men come unto me, I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble, and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me, for if they humble themselves before me and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."
One thing new that stood out to me, it says "I will show unto men their weakness," not weaknesses. As imperfect beings, we are all weak; we all struggle and fall. Because of this state we are in, WE CANNOT DO IT ALONE. We are weak, and He has shown that to us. With Him, only with Him, we can overcome that weakness and become strong in Christ. He can make up the difference; HE can help others feel the Spirit; HE helps us push forward. Jesus Christ is our Savior; His atonement is infinite in all aspects. You are never beyond His reach; He knows you better than you do. With the enabling power of His atonement, you can become strong.
I love you guys sooo much!! Don't ever take for granted the chance to eat Cafe Rio; you'll regret it.
I hope you have a great week; make sure to pray often! Send me an email.
Elder Lefler.
