Life Is A Dream
Hey, if you all could choose between chocolate cake or peach cobbler, which would you choose? For the boys here in Zapata, we don't choose, we just made both! BOOM, we cooked up this week! Zapata has never tasted food like this before.
This week was super lit. Miracles were seen, trials were had, and progress was made in this amazing pueblo we call Zapata! We had a new record of total people at church on Sunday—SO HYPE!! The members are super hype, and it's so cool to see the rekindling of their gospel fire. Sadly, we only had one friend at church with us this week, but Josie is going strong, has a Book of Mormon, and is pressing forward!
We had a couple of cool experiences this week. The first one I wanted to share was a story with our friends, the Martinez Family. We went over and shared the last Book of Mormon video. It's the one where Moroni challenges the people to read it and ask for a witness. The video ended, and we talked about it. I felt a deep love for my Savior that He has given us something as amazing as this book. Looking back on it that night, I felt that same feeling, which was a cool experience, and I can testify that the Book of Mormon is true!
We had youth night on Wednesday, and it was so lit! We had 10 friends come to it, WHICH WAS SO AWESOME! As well, our recent convert, Romeo, came to the activity. Romeo and I have gotten close during these transfers I've had here, and he is preparing to receive the priesthood. It's so cool to see the progression in him! One of the greatest things about this gospel is how much we can progress and change. I know that it's only through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. That's truly the greatest gift—that we can be forgiven of our sins and move on!
In my studies this week, I studied a lot about the enabling power of the Atonement. I came across this scripture, Jacob 4:6-7:
6 Wherefore, we search the prophets, and we have many revelations and the spirit of prophecy; and having all these witnesses, we obtain hope, and our faith becomes unshaken, insomuch that we truly can command in the name of Jesus and the very trees obey us, or the mountains, or the waves of the sea.
7 Nevertheless, the Lord God shows us our weakness that we may know that it is by His grace and His great condescensions unto the children of men that we have power to do these things.
I was like, "Dang, this is super cool!" There is so much in this verse, way too much to go over it all, but I wanted to focus on one part: with His help, we can do all things! Which is true and it's an amazing thing. This then led me to start reading a conference talk by Tad R. Callister, which says:
"Because of His Atonement, the Savior has enabling powers, sometimes referred to as grace, that can help us overcome our weaknesses and imperfections and thus assist us in our pursuit to become more like Him."
Through His grace (atonement), we are able to overcome our weaknesses and shortcomings. There is so much to learn about His grace, but one thing I know is that it will help us become like Christ, which should be our ultimate goal! As we do that, we will see the quality of our lives improve. The knowledge of what He did for us can be the biggest motivating factor to do good in this life! I love my Savior; I am forever grateful for His influence in my life.
I plead with you to let God prevail in your life! You will be blessed as you do. Read "His Grace Is Sufficient" by Brad Wilcox.
Love you all and would love to hear from you!
